Operators running busy EV charging depots are some of Flipturn’s most demanding customers. At sites like these, understanding the status of each charger is key for streamlined operations. The folks who need this visibility aren’t always sitting at a computer or logging into Flipturn with their phone, they want to be able to glance up at a screen to quickly see what’s happening.
We’ve seen this use case come up organically from users logging in to Flipturn and putting it up on a TV at the depot. Once a live dashboard is up where everyone can see it, charging becomes a shared, glanceable part of site operations rather than something one person manages off to the side. To support this pattern, we’ve launched a first-class feature for in-depot dashboards: TV links!
Introducing TV links
TV links are a new, read-only and access-limited way to display the Flipturn dashboard on any screen at your site. You create a link in Flipturn that has access to only the sites you need, point your TV at it, and the dashboard stays loaded indefinitely.
Each TV link comes with the controls operators need to roll them out across multiple sites and screens.
- Name each link: Every TV link has a label, so it's easy to tell which screen each one belongs to. That's important when you have multiple displays across a site or across a portfolio, and you want to revoke or update a specific one later without affecting the others.
- One-time use: A link can be set to lock to a single device on first load. After it's been opened on a screen, the same URL won't work anywhere else, so you don't have to worry about the link being shared further than intended.
- Scope by site and charger: Each link can be scoped to a specific set of sites and chargers. A screen in a lobby can show only the public-facing chargers, and a screen in the maintenance office can show the full depot, all from the same Flipturn account.
- Revoke instantly: If a screen is replaced, relocated, or no longer in use, the link can be revoked from Flipturn and stops working everywhere it's installed.
How to get started
A number of our customers are already running TV links in their ops centers, dispatch rooms, and control rooms. The feedback so far is that this can meaningfully change how a site runs day to day: charging stops being something only one person can see and becomes part of the shared awareness across the whole team.
