San Francisco, CA — January 30, 2026: Flipturn today announced its listing as an approved Solution Provider for PG&E’s Flex Connect Program, enabling EV charging sites to quickly unlock additional capacity at a site while waiting for infrastructure upgrades. With Flex Connect, PG&E provides day-ahead hourly schedules of the next day’s additional available capacity, and Flipturn’s software and energy management controls enable the site to operate at the maximum capacity while maintaining a reliable charging experience.

Architecture

Flipturn’s solution can provide all of the components needed to implement Flex Connect, or can integrate with existing systems to fill in the gaps needed. The system components include:

• IEEE 2030.5 CSIP Aggregator: Facilitates communication with PG&E.
• On-site energy management controller: Manages EV chargers and other on-site hardware to adhere to PG&E provided schedules with required fail safes.
• Meter data gateway: Provides real-time (30-second granularity) meter data across power, voltage, current, and related datapoints, that is reported back to PG&E by the aggregator.‍
• Charging management system: Enables reporting, charging authorization, payments, and charger monitoring/configuration (if using an existing CMS, integration options can include OCPI, OCPP proxy, or API).
