Integrate EV charging into your systems with Flipturn's APIs

Successful EV charging deployments don’t live on an island, they integrate into existing systems and processes and streamline the workflow for site operators.

Flipturn’s APIs represent our core philosophy: your data is your own to do anything you need. While most tasks can be accomplished in Flipturn directly, our API lets you connect charging to the systems your team already relies on, and automate processes as needed:

  • Maintenance teams automate ticketing by automatically pulling in alerts and reliability issues
  • Fleets sync vehicle and RFID metadata from systems of record to ensure data in Flipturn is always up to date (on top of Flipturn’s built-in telematics sync with Geotab, Samsara, Viriciti, and others)
  • Operations teams coordinate departure schedules from transportation management systems (TMS)
  • Business operators pull usage information via API to integrate into reporting and billing systems

Let’s dive into some of the things you can do with Flipturn’s API in more detail!

1. Pipe charging alerts into your ticketing system

Use case: Route charging alerts into your existing ticketing system, like Salesforce Service Cloud, so your team can track and resolve EV charging issues

Today’s service and maintenance teams use best-in-class ticketing platforms to efficiently manage strict SLAs and ensure issues are tracked to resolution. Rather than reproducing that entire workflow inside your CMS or via brittle email integrations, you want an automated process to create and track tickets in your system of choice.

Flipturn’s Alerts API gives you a feed of alerts including session errors, offline charger detection, late charging warnings, low battery warnings, and prematurely ended charging sessions. Best of all, you can fetch alerts across multiple Flipturn accounts with one API key, and use Flipturn’s existing alert filtering functionality to select only want you want to see.

Whether you're using Salesforce Service Cloud, ServiceNow, PagerDuty, or a custom Slack integration, pulling alerts from Flipturn means your team sees EV charging issues in the same place they handle every other operational alert.

2. Import access lists, RFID cards, and vehicles

Use case: Automatically authorize charging and keep acesss lists up to date

When you're managing hundreds of vehicles and RFID cards, keeping charging access up to date across systems is a headache. The Access ID Batch Upload lets you push 1,000 access IDs per call, perfect for syncing your entire access list from whatever system of record you use, including:

  • Residents for multi-family buildings
  • RFID cards for employee access
  • Vehicle MAC IDs for fleets

The API is designed be easily re-run on a schedule — Flipturn automatically matches against existing records and only creates or updates what's changed. Multiple access IDs for the same vehicle are automatically grouped together, keeping everything accurately labeled and organized.

3. Sync vehicle schedules from your transportation management system (TMS)

Use case: Push vehicle departure schedules from your dispatch or TMS into Flipturn so vehicle charging is automatically prioritized

While Flipturn comes with easy-to-configure settings like departure times, vehicle priorities, first-in-first-out charging, and more, connecting that to your fleet’s actual schedules allows your charging to react to operational changes as they happen.

The Departure Times API lets you sync your transportation management system or dispatch schedules directly into Flipturn. Vehicles can be identified by VIN, making it easy to match things up, and each sync cleanly replaces future departures while preserving history.

4. Export usage data into your existing data warehouse or AI agents

Use case: Integrate Flipturn with Oracle, PowerBI, and other systems to power custom data analysis or billing workflows

API documentation: Charging Sessions and Charger Health APIs

While Flipturn comes with advanced reporting, AI analysis, and invoice-based billing built in, enterprises will often have existing systems in place that are already integrated with the rest of the business. A few examples:

  • Importing usage and reliability data into PowerBI to do custom analysis, integrated with your other business data
  • Integrating with your AI agent of choice like Claude, ChatGPT, or Copilot to ask questions about charging data
  • Piping usage data into billing systems like QuickBooks or Stripe

The big picture

Successful EV charging deployments don’t live on an island, they integrate into the existing tools and processes of site operators, and our philosophy is that your data should always be easily accessible to you.

That's why we invest heavily in the completeness of Flipturn's API — so you can wire EV charging into the systems you already use, rather than treating EV charging as a silo.

If you're interested in building an integration or have a use case we haven't covered yet, let’s chat — we’re constantly expanding the API and we'd love to hear your ideas.
