“Flipturn gives us the control and flexibility we need to keep our chargers running smoothly and available when we need them. It’s a night-and-day difference to our previous EV charger management setup.”
The challenge
To meet growing demand for EVs, Audi Marin partnered with ABM to upgrade its charging infrastructure and install new Siemens and Samsung chargers. However, hardware alone wasn’t enough. The dealership needed a way to manage charger access across different user groups: customers, employees, and service staff.
That’s where Flipturn came in.

Approximately 40% of new car sales at Audi Marin's dealership are electric.
How Flipturn helped
Custom access rules
- Service lane chargers operate in free-vend mode
- Public chargers follow a paid pricing plan, enabled through phone-based authentication
- Employees are allowed to charge for free on most chargers, with the exception of the dealership’s flagship DCFC, to ensure high availability of the charger
Streamlined experience
Drivers simply plug in and tap their phone—no apps or RFID cards required.
Consistent performance
With ABM’s hardware upgrades and Flipturn’s management tools, chargers are available, reliable, and easy to use across the site.

Flipturn’s payment settings page enables complex access control management in minutes, without the need for RFID cards.

100 kW Samsung charger is available for all employees on a paid-basis with high idle fees to encourage availability.

Two 30 kW Samsung chargers power the service lanes. These chargers are located in a restricted access area, and are used to recharge lot units and customer EVs receiving service.
